چکیده

The paper examines self-similar properties of real telecommunications network traffic data over a wide range of time scales. These self-similar properties are very different from the properties of traditional models based on Poisson and Markov-modulated Poisson processes. The algorithms for modeling fixed-length sequence generators that are used to simulate self-similar behavior of wireless IP network traffic are developed and applied. The implementation of suggested simulation approach for stochastic and long range dependence teletraffic source models is shown. Buffer overflow simulation for finite buffer single server model under self-similar traffic load SSM/M/1/B is considered. Numerical examples and simulation results are provided.

Modeling and Simulation of Self-Similar Traffic in Wireless IP Networks

The paper examines self-similar properties of real telecommunications network traffic data over a wide range of time scales. These self-similar properties are very different from the properties of traditional models based on Poisson and Markov-modulated Poisson processes. Simulation with stochastic and long range dependent traffic source models is performed, and the algorithms for buffer overfl...

Markov Chain Formulation of G/m/1 Queueing System for 1-limited Polling Model with Self-similar Traffic Input Technical Report 632

Over the past few years, we have witnessed a growing popularity of new wireless architectures such as 3G, Wi-Fi and Wi-Max due to the increase in demand for wireless Internet access. The all-IP based future mobile and wireless network model is expected to be the most dominant architecture for QoS provisioning in next-generation wireless networks, mainly due to its scalability and capability of ...

Towards the formation of comprehensive SLAs between heterogeneous wireless DiffServ domains

Traffic patterns generated by multimedia services are different from traditional Poisson traffic. It has been shown in numerous studies that multimedia network traffic exhibits self-similarity and burstiness over a large range of time-scales. The area of wireless IP traffic modeling for the purpose of providing assured QoS to the end-user is still immature and the majority of existing work is b...

Evaluation of an Intrusion Detection System for Routing Attacks in Wireless Self-organised Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) arebecoming increasingly popular, and very useful in militaryapplications and environmental monitoring. However, security is a major challenge for WSNs because they areusually setup in unprotected environments. Our goal in thisstudy is to simulate an Intrusion Detection System (IDS)that monitors the WSN and report intrusions accurately andeffectively. We have thus...

Performance Analysis of Leaky-Bucket Controlled Pareto-Distributed On/Off Sources

An approximate performance analysis of a leaky bucket with Pareto-distributed On/Off sources is presented. The aggregate of Pareto-distributed On/Off sources is a self-similar traffic. This analysis is applicable to the leaky bucket policing device at the ingresses of (1) a base station in a Wireless ATM network, (2) a wireline ATM network, and (3) future generations of IP-based networks with q...
